INDICTMENTS: Two indicted on sex crimes

Richmond Register - 4/10/2018

April 10--A Lexington man is facing kidnapping and rape charges, both B felonies punishable by up to 20 years.

Nicholas Thomas Martin, 28, who also goes by the alias Nicholas Aden, was indicted Wednesday on the charges.

Martin was arrested in January by Richmond Police after reportedly kidnapping and raping a woman he worked with.

Police say before the kidnapping and rape, Martin engaged in harassing behavior toward the woman.

In December 2017, Martin followed the woman when she left work and waited for her as she went inside a business. As she walked back to her car, Martin accosted her, grabbing her arm and dragging her to his car, Martin's arrest citation states. He then reportedly sexually assaulted her.

After the alleged rape, Martin repeatedly attempted to contact the woman via social media and by phone, the citation notes. On Jan. 28, Martin contacted one of the woman's friends via Instagram who recorded the conversation, in which Martin said he was stalking the victim, trying to find her all over Richmond but couldn't and admitted to the sexual assault, the citation notes.

In addition to kidnapping and rape, the indictment against Martin also includes a misdemeanor stalking charge.

Martin remained in the Madison County Detention Center as of Thursday afternoon, according to online records.

A Richmond man arrested in January on charges he sexually assaulted a child has been indicted on charges stemming from the alleged assault of two children.

Kenneth Enright, 44, of West Main Street, faces two counts first-degree sexual abuse, both class C felonies punishable by up to 10 years.

The indictment alleges Enright assaulted a 6-year-old in June 2014, and that he twice sexually assaulted another child between 2012 and mid-2015. The child was 9 at the beginning of 2012.

Enright remained in the Madison County Detention Center as of Thursday afternoon, according to online records.

A Berea woman and Brodhead man have been indicted on criminal abuse charges after allegedly twice abusing a child younger than 2.

Daniel Amyx, 22, and Laura Ratliff Huchins were each indicted on two counts C felony first-degree criminal abuse charges.

The couple either caused bruising to the child's buttocks or permitted his being injured on two occasions, once in September 2017 and again in November 2017, the indictment alleges.

Amyx was arrested first. A warrant stated that, after the child was taken to the University of Louisville Hospital, Kosair Charities Division of Pediatric Forensic Medicine, deputies were called to investigate because of severe bruising on the child's buttocks. It was determined in a medical report "...that the bruising occurred from impact of significant force beyond what would be expected from routine child care activities and beyond what would occur during normal childhood activity and play for a child the age of the victim." After further investigation, it was determined Amyx had caused the bruising intentionally during his visitation during Sept. 25-27, 2017, the warrant stated.

Jail records show Huchins was booked into the Madison County Detention Center about two hours after Amyx's booking.

Both remained in the facility as of Thursday, afternoon, according to online records.

An indictment does not indicate guilt, only that grand jurors believe the state has enough evidence to proceed with prosecution.
