BRIEF: Ames man pleads guilty to 2016 sexual assault

Ames Tribune - 4/19/2018

April 19--An Ames man who court documents say sexually assaulted a woman in October 2016 pleaded guilty to one of the charges Wednesday, according to Story County Attorney Jessica Reynolds.

Clarence Castile, 34, pleaded guilty to assault with intent to commit sexual abuse.

Castile was arrested in August 2017 and charged with third-degree sexual abuse and assault with intent to commit sexual abuse.

His trial was originally set for Nov. 28, then April 24, before pleading guilty Wednesday.

According to court documents, on Oct. 14, 2016, the victim contacted Ames police to report she was sexually assaulted by a man, whom she identified as Castile.

The victim alleged in court documents that Castille was at her residence, where he exposed himself to her and forced her to touch him inappropriately. Documents also allege that Castile asked the victim to perform sexual acts on him.

Reynolds said her office is recommending a two-year prison sentence.

As of Wednesday afternoon, no sentencing date has been set.
