July 19--A Ronceverte man was sentenced Tuesday in Greenbrier County Circuit Court to spend five to 25 years in prison for the first-degree sexual abuse of a child.
Brandon Roto previously pleaded guilty to one count of sexual abuse against a 9-year-old victim.
Judge Robert E. Richardson also assessed Roto a $1,000 fine and 20 years of supervised release after his sentence has been served.
According to a release, the victim was interviewed at the Child and Youth Advocacy Center, which serves victims of abuse and neglect in Greenbrier, Pocahontas and Monroe counties.
The victim was interviewed in April 2017 and the details of the abuse were disclosed. Ronceverte Police Department then began investigating, and charged Roto with sexual abuse.
