BRIEF: Spartanburg County deputy charged with domestic violence

July 19--A Spartanburg County deputy is accused of choking a woman and a child and pointing a gun at a minor, according to arrest warrants.
Gary Samual Watson Jr., 41, of 443 Rexford Drive, Moore, faces charges of first-degree domestic violence, pointing and presenting a firearm and unlawful neglect of a child.
According to the warrants, Watson caused injuries Thursday to a woman's neck and cut off her air flow in the presence of a child. The warrants also state Watson pointed a gun at and choked a child.
The Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office requested the State Law Enforcement Division investigate the assault, according to a statement from SLED. The state Attorney General's Office is prosecuting the case.
