BRIEF: Aberdeen man charged with statutory rape in runaway case

Aberdeen American News - 8/3/2018

Aug. 03--An Aberdeen man faces statutory rape charges in connection to a runaway case police investigated last month.

Trevor J. Erickson, 25, was arrested July 11 and charged with three counts of statutory rape and one count of contributing to the abuse and neglect or delinquency of a minor, according to court documents.

Police were investigating a runaway case when they took Erickson into custody, according to a news release from the Aberdeen Police Department.

In a separate news release, police asked for the public's help in finding a missing teenager whose initials and age matched the initials and age of the girl listed in Erickson's court documents.

He is accused of having sex with a 15-year-old girl three times between June 30 through July 9.

Under state law, people younger than 16 cannot consent to sexual acts.

Erickson waived his right to a preliminary hearing in court on Thursday, according to the court documents. His next court appearance has yet to be scheduled.
