He was convicted of raping an 87-year-old woman. Now, he'll serve life in prison

The Fresno Bee - 11/8/2018

Nov. 08--A 41-year-old Porterville man will serve 136 years to life in prison for a list of crimes that includes the rape and abuse of an 87-year-old woman.

Kory Tapia was convicted in October and sentenced Wednesday for two counts of forcible rape, two counts of forcible oral copulation, one count of sexual penetration by a foreign object, one count of elder abuse, one count of false imprisonment of an elder, one count of assault with a deadly weapon and one count of possession of child pornography.

Those charges were enhanced because it was a burglary with the intent to commit a sex offense and use of a deadly weapon, according to the Tulare County District Attorney's Office.

In addition to the sentence, Tapia must register as a sex offender for life.
