Madera deputy shot responding to domestic violence case

Nov. 12--A Madera County sheriff's sergeant was shot in the leg Sunday night while responding to a domestic violence call, the sheriff's office reported.
The deputy was taken to a hospital, where he was treated and released. The suspect was taken into custody by a SWAT team after about a three-hour standoff.
Neither the deputy nor the suspect was immediately identified.
The shooting occurred about 9 p.m. in the 28000 block of Avenue 15 3/4, south of Highway 145 and just east of Madera city limits, where the sergeant went after it was reported the suspect was armed with a firearm.
