The Daily Record - 3/1/2019

WOOSTER — With the original intent of opening a new preschool in the Wooster/?Wayne County area, Care 4 Kids Educational Child Care Center opened in March 1998 as a preschool and child care center serving 3-, 4-, and 5-year-old children. Within the first four years of operation, Care 4 Kids expanded to serve children ages 6 weeks through fourth grade. Beginning with only five children upon opening in 1998, Care 4 Kids now serves 130 children from 100 families in Wooster/?Wayne County. With this growth came expansion within the facility from the original 2,500 square-feet to the current 9,600 square-feet. Care 4 Kids is open Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Enrollment is accepted year-round.

Care 4 Kids is licensed by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services and is 3-Star rated through the State of Ohio Step Up to Quality program. Owner/?Administrator Linda Gilbert states “From the beginning, Care 4 Kids has operated a Preschool/?Pre-K program. As other age groups were added, the educational program was extended to include infants, toddlers and school age children.” Any child attending Care 4 Kids participates in the educational program at no extra cost. The center also offers a “Preschool/?Pre-K only” option for children not needing the childcare aspect of the center’s program. School age children kindergarten through fourth grade can be enrolled in the “no school” program which operates year-round.

Care 4 Kids follows the Early Learning and Development Standards as established for children ages birth-5 by the Ohio Department of Education. Utilizing a play-based educational program, Care 4 Kids focuses on meeting the individual needs of the children in their care through the social, physical, intellectual and emotional growth of the children. Goals of the center are helping the children develop self-discipline, providing a place for exploring new fields of learning to prepare them for their upcoming school years and helping children learn to appreciate themselves and others around them.

The Care 4 Kids staff creates a clean, nurturing and educational environment for the children and work to provide a strong support system between the children, parents and the center. Gilbert also states “We want our parents to leave the center knowing their children are safe and happy and that they are in a nurturing and educational setting.”

The staff of Care 4 Kids is actively involved with Wayne Association for the Education of Young Children and annually coordinates child-oriented fundraisers through participation in the MDA Hop-A-Thon and St. Jude’s Trike-A-Thon. The center also offers activities such as an annual end of summer family picnic, Parent Cafes and “Date Night”.
