Red Cross assists Pleasantville family displaced by fire

PLEASANTVILLE ? The American Red Cross assisted a Pleasantville family displaced by a fire at their Sixth Avenue home Monday, Jan. 30.

The Red Cross Disaster Action Team provided comfort and emergency assistance to the two residents in the form of temporary lodging, food and clothing.

Volunteers remain available to offer support and counseling, as well as referrals to local agencies that may provide long-term assistance during their recovery if needed.

All emergency assistance is free to those affected by disasters.

The American Red Cross also supplies about 40 percent of the nation's blood, teaches skills that save lives, provides international humanitarian aid, and supports military members and their families.

It is a not-for-profit organization that relies on volunteers and donations to perform its mission. Donations to American Red Cross Disaster Relief help people affected by disasters like home fires and countless other crises.
