Herald-Times - 7/13/2017

July 12--MCCSC is among 14 early education programs being recognized with Early Learning Indiana's first Family Engagement Prize.

The Monroe County Community School Corp. received $5,000 as part of its award in the public preschool category. Other categories of early childhood education providers included early childhood centers, Head Start programs, ministries, Spanish-language programs and family child care programs.

"Families are children's first and most important teachers," Ted Maple, president and CEO of Early Learning Indiana, said in a press release. "We are thrilled to recognize these 14 programs who rightly champion families and activate them as essential partners in early learning."

The 14 programs were selected out of 145 applicants for their "innovative efforts to engage families of young children," according to a release from Early Learning Indiana. The winners each received between $2,500-$5,000. The grand-prize winner, Walnut Hill Early Childhood Center in Goshen, received $25,000.
