Local Rainbow Child Care centers collect diapers for families in crisis

The Tribune - 9/7/2017

One in three American families struggle to afford diapers for their children every day. Rainbow Child Care Centers around North Carolina have teamed up with Diaper Bank of North Carolina to help support and to stock the shelves to aid families in crisis.

Diaper Bank of North Carolina was founded on the simple belief all children deserve clean diapers. The Diaper Bank works with established family-support organizations to distribute diapers to low-income families — ensuring the families that need diapers the most are the first ones receiving them.

“Rainbow Child Care Center has an ongoing dedication to provide a safe, happy and healthy childhood experience for all children,” said Patrick Fenton, Rainbow’s founder and chief executive officer. “Our staff and families have a rich tradition of supporting the children and families in need throughout the communities Rainbow is privileged to serve. It’s overwhelming to see the North Carolina communities work together for such a great cause.”

Rainbow Child Care and community partners are working together to collect diapers for all ages through Sept. 30 in an effort to support local families. Rainbow students are decorating some of the diapers with colorful designs to spread love and joy to the families that receive them.

“Something as small as a diaper can have a significant impact for those families in need,” said Michelle Old, Diaper Bank of North Carolina’s executive director. “We’re incredibly thankful for the support of Rainbow Child Care Center and their efforts and the work they’re doing to support DBNC and communities throughout the state. We know their donations and colorful diaper designs will brighten the days of those who receive them.”
