BRIEF: Teenager charged with child molestation

Sept. 13--TRENTON, Mo. -- A 19-year-old teen living in Trenton, Missouri, stands accused of having sex with a 12-year-old.

Colby M. Weaver, 19, faces a felony charge of first-degree child molestation. The charge was filed by Carrie L. Clark, Grundy County prosecutor.

Jasmine Diab, a Trenton Police Department officer, investigated the case and filed a report stating the crime occurred on the last day of October 2016. The victim went to the North Central Children's Advocacy Center and reported the crime while submitting to a forensic interview. The police officer's investigation revealed the defendant, who agreed to be questioned, had sex with his 12-year-old victim on Oct. 31.

The case is scheduled for an arraignment at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26, before Associate Circuit Judge Steven Hudson.

A bond has been set for $75,000 cash only, and Weaver is being held in the Grundy County Jail in lieu of posting the bond.
