Support SNAP for struggling families

As a retired visiting nurse for hospice, I can attest to the tremendous positive impact that the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP) has on families that are struggling with poverty, loss of jobs due to illness or to the demands of caregiving, and overwhelming medical problems.

The budget that is now being proposed in the U.S. House of Representatives includes deep cuts to this vital program. In our state of Montana alone, one in nine Montanans participate in SNAP, and of these, 70 percent are in families with children. Our country cannot afford to take away nutritional support from our most vulnerable citizens and from the children who are our future.

Please let U.S. Rep. Greg Gianforte know that you support increasing, not cutting the SNAP program budget.
