Family Services Agency earns national accreditation

The Midweek - 11/8/2017

DeKALB ? After a lengthy and rigorous evaluation process, the Family Service Agency of DeKalb recently received national accreditation by the Council on Accreditation, according to a news release.

COA conducts thorough analysis of accredited agencies to ensure services are well-coordinated, competent, evidence-based, outcomes-oriented, and provided by a skilled and supported workforce.

FSA Director of Operations Tynisha Clegg said in the release that accreditation is not easily achieved, and you really have to be a leader in your field to be recognized.

"Our recent awarding of accreditation is an enormous success for Family Service Agency. We are the only local agency to have this distinction." Clegg said. "The process is very thorough because [COA] are intent on thoroughly vetting agencies before they award them this incredible distinction."

The Family Service Agency achieves this through its four programs: Big Brothers Big Sisters, Center for Counseling, Children's Advocacy Center and Senior Services.

COA is the only national accreditor designated by the U.S. Department of Defense to develop accreditation standards for human service programs offered for military personnel and their families.
