BRIEF: Police: Sex offender lived too close to child care center

Jan. 27--Police have arrested a registered sex offender for residing too close to a child care center in Gastonia.

On Friday, police arrested Christopher Brown, 36, of 2606 Winterfield Drive in Gastonia.

He was booked into Gaston County Jail on $100,000 bond and charged with a single felony count of sex offender residence violation.

According to warrants, Brown allegedly violated the law by knowingly residing within 1,000 feet of the Carolina Kids Club, located at 4311 Titman Road.

According to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, Brown was convicted in 2002 of criminal sexual conduct in the first degree and kidnapping. He is previously listed as having lived in North Charleston, South Carolina.
