Quad Cities picked for child care program

Mesabi Daily News - 7/1/2018

VIRGINIA - Virginia and the Quad Cities have been chosen to participate in First Children's Finances Rural Child Care Innovation Program.

Close to a dozen applications were submitted statewide, and Virginia was among the initial communities to be selected.

The program is designed to develop solutions to address the needs of child care and early education through community engagement in selected locations.

During a two-year period, chosen communities increase the focus on opportunities and challenges they are facing with child care.

First Children's Finance helps facilitate the conversation and provides expertise, tools and resources to support the creation and implementation of solutions to address child care shortages in rural communities.

A local "Core Team" will hold its first training session this summer, with additional public activities through the year.
