District Attorney Victim Assistance Program Tarrant County | Victim Services information provided by: Tarrant County 211

Provides support to the crime victim through notification and information about the criminal justice process. After a case is filed and accepted, an initial contact letter is sent to the victim. Letters contain informational brochures, victim impact statement, information regarding crime victim compensation or property restitution as appropriate. Upon request, assist with: docket listings; jail status; disposition information; referral to other social service agencies; and assistance in completing forms.

Referrals to the victim program are based on felony cases filed and accepted with the District Attorney’s Office, involving the offense of murder/homicide, sexual assault, assault with serious bodily injury, aggravated cases, and kidnapping; and, misdemeanor cases involving the offense of assault with bodily injury, violations of protective orders, and harassment. Crime Victim Compensation (some eligibility criteria-administered by the State) provides possible payment of counseling, medical expenses, loss of wages, relocation, and funeral expenses for victims of violent crimes who have suffered mental and/or physical injury.
