Educational child care center to open in Oak Point

Little Elm Journal - 2/7/2017

Children's Lighthouse Learning Centers announced on Feb. 2 that it has signed a franchise agreement with Julie Carter and Michael Carter to open a new location in Oak Point.

Children's Lighthouse is widely recognized as the leading values-based, early education child care provider in the United States.

The future school will be located at 301 Shahan Prairie and is scheduled to open this fall.

"We're thrilled with the opportunity to introduce families in our community to the unique Children's Lighthouse experience," Julie said.

This is the first Children's Lighthouse location for the Carters, who plan to open additional centers in the area.

Julie is a CPA who has more than 33 years of experience in accounting, insurance, business ownership and management. Michael has been a real estate executive for more than 30 years, developing and leasing commercial real estate in the area.

Julie will serve as a community liaison and looks forward to the opportunity to positively impact families in the community. She'll oversee the center and manage day-to-day operations. She will hire a director and additional staff to facilitate education at the center.

The Children's Lighthouse Learning Center will span approximately 11,000 square feet and will provide ample space for children to learn in classroom and group settings, while also offering sizable play areas both inside and out. An on-site kitchen will offer daily fresh and healthy meals for students.

Children's Lighthouse serves families with kids just a few weeks old to 12 years old. In addition to child care during traditional school hours, interactive after-school programs and summer camps are available.

Children's Lighthouse Learning Centers are safe and secure environments that give parents peace of mind with online video links to rooms, computerized building entry, security monitoring and transportation to and from area elementary schools.

With experienced educational childcare professionals guiding the company's operations, Children's Lighthouse has embedded the Lighthouse C.A.R.E.S. curriculum into its programming at all existing and upcoming schools.

The integrated learning strategies of C.A.R.E.S. focus on students' intellectual development, social and emotional growth, active learning through hands-on lessons and embedded content that emphasizes the fundamental basics of phonics, reading, math, science and social studies.

"In my opinion, Children's Lighthouse will serve a very special need in our community. We will be providing parents a place where they can feel confident that their children are safe and secure, while developing priceless and lasting learning habits," Michael said. "Our lighthouse will offer individualized care in a loving and nurturing environment, providing parents with the utmost sense of security that their child is being cared for."

Along with the forthcoming school in Oak Point, 12 new Children's Lighthouse centers will soon join the 40 existing locations.

"We are growing into new areas with talented individuals such as Julie and Michael, who share our passion for community, nurturing care and education," said Pat Brown, president and co-founder of Children's Lighthouse. "We couldn't be happier about adding a school in Oak Point and doing so with such gifted entrepreneurs. Children's Lighthouse has a bright future in the region."

Children's Lighthouse's initial and ongoing training and support is led by a team of childcare veterans to provide the franchise owner insight and leadership for the entire life of the franchise.
