VSP seeks assistance in Lee child porn case

JONESVILLE - The Virginia State Police is seeking the public's assistance in the continuing investigation into a Lee County man arrested last week on multiple child pornography charges.

As the VSP continues to pursue the case, investigators are asking anyone with information that might be relevant to the investigation of Robert E. Widener Jr. to contact VSP Special Agent J.J. Kite at (276) 889Widener, 60, of Ben Hur, is still being held without bond at the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail in Duffield on 20 counts of solicitation of the production of child pornography and 20 counts of using a communications device to possess child pornography.

Widener was arrested last Wednesday at his residence without incident. The VSP said Widener was an educator for many years in Lee County prior to his retirement in 2014.
