Woman with ailing father requests help with rent

The Santa Fe New Mexican - 11/25/2017

Nov. 25--A single mother who is a full-time student working on a degree in social work had been receiving help from her parents to pay rent on her apartment. They can no longer help with her rent, however, because her father had a stroke and her mother has had to take off from work to care for him. The woman says she has exhausted her school funds until January, and she and her daughter have decided not to exchange Christmas gifts. She said she is most worried about covering her December rent of $1,165.

She is one of hundreds of people asking for help from neighbors this season through the Empty Stocking Fund.
