Police: Daytona man wanted to meet teens for sex, then kill mother

News-Journal - 12/2/2017

Dec. 01--DAYTONA BEACH -- A man who placed an online ad that he was looking to impregnate someone's daughter, sister or wife was arrested after he tried to meet what he thought were 13- and 14-year-old girls for sex, police said.

He also told police he planned to kill at least one of the girls.

Vance D. Taylor Jr., 29, of Daytona Beach, was charged with using a computer to solicit parent/guardian consent, travel to meet after use of a computer-lure child and use of two-way communication device to commit felony, a report states. Taylor was being held without bail at the Volusia County Branch Jail.

But Taylor asked police that he be charged with something other than the sex crime, according to Daytona Beach Police Sgt. Tim Ehrenkaufer.

"He asked me if we could charge him with the attempted homicide the aggravated assault as opposed to the sex offense," Ehrenkaufer asid. "In his terms is because he is trying to become a member of the Outlaws motorcycle gang and he knew that this would not fly with them because everybody has standards."

Ehrenkaufer said he and detective Richard Maher, part of the department's Advanced Technology and Cybercrimes Unit, were working an operation when Taylor's online ad caught their eye.

"His title was, "looking to impregnate somebody's daughter," so of course that caught our attention," he said.

Taylor posted the ad on Nov. 21 An undercover officer responded asking what age he was interested in. Taylor responded 16 to 21. The undercover posing as a mother responded that she had two daughters, 13- and 14-years-old and asked whether that was too young, the report states.

Taylor responded, "I didn't say that what do they look like," the report states. Then he asked what the girls liked to do sexually. Based on that Taylor first asked to meet the 13-year-old and then asked to meet both girls for sex, the report states. Taylor also said that he was going to say he was arranging a marriage to invoke "religious freedom" in case the messages ended up in the wrong hands, a report states.

The undercover officer posing as the mother responded she would understand if he didn't want to do it.

Taylor responded. "I want to do it just don't wanna be on tv lol where do I need to go mama you never told me that part," the affidavit state.

Taylor arranged to meet the mother and her two daughters at a location on Mason Avenue. When he got there at 11:24 a.m. on Thursday he was arrested.

Taylor then told police that his intention was to kill at least one of the girls or the children's mother to take out his "life frustrations."

Maher said they the operation is continuing and more arrest are possible. He did not want to provide the names of the internet sites due to the ongoing investigation.
