Enid News & Eagle - 12/13/2017

Dec. 13--FAIRVIEW -- Mustang Fuel employees once again helped fight hunger in Fairview.

On Monday, Mustang Fuel volunteers distributed 130 holiday Care and Share boxes of food, hams, bread and fresh produce to help feed families in the Fairview area who live with hunger. This distribution also was in partnership with Serving Christ Outreach, a community-based partner agency of the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma.

"Mustang Fuel is committed to fighting hunger throughout western Oklahoma," said Carey Joullian, president and CEO of Mustang Fuel Corporation. "These food boxes will provide hope, in the form of food, to hundreds of families that are wondering where their next meal will come from."

Mustang Fuel provided the funds for the food boxes and the volunteers to distribute the boxes. This distribution aids families in the Fairview area are having a difficult time making ends meet and often find themselves having to choose between paying bills and buying food.

Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma provides enough food to feed more than 136,000 people each week in 53 Central and Western Oklahoma counties. Last year, the food bank distributed 318,694 pounds of food in Major County through community-based partner agencies: Cleo Springs Senior Center, Serving Christ Outreach, Department of Human Services in Major County and Wheatheart Nutrition in Ringwood.

"We want to thank Mustang Fuel and its employees for their generosity and compassion, especially at this time of the year," said Katie Fitzgerald, CEO of the Regional Food Bank. "Without support from the community and businesses like Mustang Fuel, many of our neighbors in the Fairview area would have inconsistent access to nutritious food."

One in six Oklahomans lives with hunger every day. The majority of those served by Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma are chronically hungry children, seniors living on limited incomes and hardworking families struggling to make ends meet.

Those wanting to make a tax-deductible donation can do so by visiting regional foodbank.org/donate or by calling (405) 600-3136.
