Bladen health department offering services for expectant mothers, rising kindergartners

Bladen Journal - 6/19/2018

June 19--ELIZABETHTOWN -- The Bladen County Health and Human Services Department is encouraging residents to take advantage of the services offered to rising kindergartners as well as to expectant mothers and newborns.

Families in the Mother County with rising preschoolers or children who will be entering kindergarten in the fall are able to schedule required physical exams with the Bladen County Health Department. Physicals include vision and hearing screenings, and any immunizations required for school may be given at this appointment if needed.

Well checks for children and adults birth-20 years of age are also provided at the Health Department.

Bladen County Health and Human Services also wants to remind the public to take advantage of maternity services available to Bladen County residents. The Maternity Clinic provides prenatal care, counseling, and education to expectant mothers. Appointments are required for maternity services and can be made same day for walk-ins, if available.

The Health department accepts many major insurances, including Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Medcost, United Health Care, Medicaid, and Cigna, and has a sliding fee scale as well.

To schedule an appointment, call 910-862-6900 or visit the Health Department in person at 300 Mercer Mill Road in Elizabethtown.
