Kiflis restaurant in Falls recalling sausage sold to Cleveland-area stores

Akron Beacon Journal - 2/28/2019

Feb. 28-- Feb. 28--Kiflis Restaurant and Bakery of Cuyahoga Falls is voluntarily recalling about 3,250 pounds of beef sausage that was not inspected by the state prior to being distributed to stores in the Cleveland area.

The recall is precautionary as there have been no confirmed reports of anyone having "adverse reactions" from eating the sausage, according to the Ohio Department of Agriculture.

The product being recalled is Bosnian Cevapi-Original Sarajevo Style Beef Sausage in packages weighing 8 pounds and with 30 sausages. The sausage products subject to recall do not include the Ohio mark of inspection.

Sausage sold at the Kiflis Restaurant and Bakery retail store at 2018 State Road in the Falls is not included in the recall.

Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them, the agriculture department said in a news release. These products should be discarded or returned to the company.

The raw sausages were produced and packaged from Aug. 6, 2018 through Feb. 6, 2019.

The product was distributed at the following locations:

--Mentor Family Foods at 7294 Lakeshore Blvd.

--Alesci's of Shoregate at 29730 Lakeshore Blvd. in Willowick.

--Taste of Europe at 15512 Madison Ave. in Lakewood.

--PV Euro at 4805 W. Pleasant Valley Road in Cleveland.

Anyone concerned about a reaction from eating the sausage should call a healthcare provider, the state's agriculture department said in a news release.

The agriculture department's meat inspection division discovered the problem during a routine compliance check.
