DIABETES

Linn County Leader - 8/10/2017

One-quarter of U.S. adults don't know they are at risk

Have you been feeling inordinately thirsty lately?

Noticing blurred vision?

Finding minor cuts difficult to heal?

Those are symptoms of diabetes, which can lead to serious complications when undiagnosed. Unfortunately, of the more than 29 million U.S. adults who have it, 25 percent are unaware, reports the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Another 86 percent of U.S. adults are classified as having pre-diabetes, a condition characterized by higher-than-normal blood sugar levels that presents higher risk for diabetes but can often be reversed with proper care, according to MayoClinic.org.
