100 years ago: D.N. Funston of the United States Smelting, Refining and Mining Exploration company announced that his company had officially purchased the Gold Prince company, otherwise known as the Sunnyside Mine in Silverton.

75 years ago: Police chief McCartney arrested "members of a youthful gang" after a report of a stolen bicycle.

50 years ago: An expansion project to add 22 beds to the Durango Community Hospital facility was accepted. The cost was estimated to total $180,000.

25 years ago: City workers removed the old street sign from the corner of Ninth Street and Main Avenue and replaced it with a new one as part of a project designed to aid tourists.
