We were wrong

A story in Tuesday’s paper about an exception that has allowed students in the South Central High School attendance area to attend D.H. Conley High School incorrectly attributed part of a quote from school board member Betsy Flanagan. Here is what Flanagan said: “At the time this was implemented, there was not an open enrollment process. There is an open enrollment process in Pitt County right now, so if you want to attend a school that you’re not districted, to, then you go through the open enrollment process, and I feel like that’s the best way to move forward. If you’re declined, you can do a student transfer hearing. We need to make it clear, staying with your friends is not an option. If we get bogged down, we just have to say no a lot of times, and I am not afraid to do that.”
