Interdenominational Ministers Fellowship of Rowan presents citywide revival

Salisbury Post - 5/22/2018

Interdenominational Ministers Fellowship will present a three-night revival Wednesday through Friday with Bishop Herbert C. Crump Jr., founder and pastor of freedom Temple Ministries of Rock Hill, South Carolina.

Services will be at 6:45 each night at New Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 2785 Dunns Mountain Road. The host pastor is Vincent P. Jones. There will be music by the IMF Mass Choir led by minister of music Bill Ward.

IMF was established in 2007 as a result of organizing a revival to empower and equip the community. Pastors David Bratton, Nilous Avery, the late Clary Phelps and others hosted the first citywide revival that year.

Included in the revival will be the presentation of the 2018 IMF Treasure Feamster Scholarship Award.

During the planning stages on the 2007 revival, Treasure Feamster, a 13-year-old eighth-grader at Knox Middle School, was shot and killed. Her death became a symbol of community unity to address gangs and focus on reclaiming the youth community.

Eleven years later, IMF continues its legacy of education and worship with speakers, music, dance and information from its 15 affiliated churches and the community.

The Treasure Feamster Scholarship was started in 2012. It provides scholarships to high school seniors.

Bishop Harvey Rice of Mount Calvary Holy Church became the first president of the board, succeeded by Jones of New Zion Baptist Church in 2017.

IMF hopes to expand its influence among the youth in the communities served.
