Autry Tech offering tuition assistance to veterans, military members and families

Nov. 25--ENID, Okla. -- Autry Technology Center is offering tuition assistance to military personnel, their spouses and children and veterans.

The Military Tuition Assistance program offers up to $500 in tuition assistance to be applied toward one of Autry Technology Center's full-time programs, or one of Autry Technology Center'sAdult Career Development courses, according to a press release. It cannot be applied toward books or supplies.

"Autry Tech­nol­ogy Center is proud to offer tuition assistance to the men and women of our armed forces and their families," Autry Tech Super­­in­tendent Brady McCull­ough said in a provided statement. "Since the implementation of the Air Force Community Partnership program in 2015, our relationship with Vance Air Force Base has continued to grow and thrive. As such an integral part of our community, it is important for our organization to support the mission of VAFB through training opportunities and workforce development."

McCullough said the program also plays a vital role in helping veterans transition their skills from the military in successful civilian careers.

"At Autry Tech, we understand the importance of making sure our veterans have every opportunity to succeed after they have completed their service," McCullough said. "By offering the Military Tuition Assistance program, we can help these individuals gain new skills, training and certifications as they enter the workforce after the military."

In a statement provided by Autry Tech, Col. Corey Simmons, 71st Flying Training Wing Commander, said the partnership between Autry Tech and Vance Air Force Base "is invaluable."

To be eligible to receive the tuition assistance, applicants must submit a completed Military Tuition Assistance application with a copy of Form DD-214 documenting an honorable discharge or a current military identification.

Applications are available at autrytech.edu or you can apply in person at Autry Technology Center, 1201 W. Willow.

Recipients must live in the Autry Technology Center district. Autry will award up to $10,000 per fiscal year in Veterans' Military Tuition Assistance on a first come, first served basis, according to the press release.

The assistance can be received a maximum of three times by any one recipient.
