Belove It Care owner opens Eastlake location

News-Herald - 6/1/2023

Jun. 1—For the last 15 years, Yahaira Mason has been working in home care with the Department of Developmental Disabilities, fulfilling her passion of helping others.

Now, in light of Mason opening an Eastlake Belove It Care location at 34734 Vine St., she is looking forward to "excelling" the elderly and those with disabilities through her business.

"I would like to say that I'm different from other people because I don't do it for the money," Mason said. "My passion is to genuinely — if someone comes here and they're at a starting point — excel them. I'll always say we're a company of elevation, so I would like to elevate individuals like we do with our staff."

Belove It Care offers a full range of services for seniors and those with disabilities in Lyndhurst, Beachwood and the surrounding areas. Among the services offered include companionship, personal care and transportation.

Companionship services include light housekeeping, appointment assistance, meal preparation and services tailored to medical conditions. Personal care services are offered to help clients complete daily activities.

Staff also works with youth in their homes and in the school system, helping them build daily skills, prepare for adult education and plan careers.

Transportation services include driving people with disabilities to and from adult day support programs, vocational rehabilitation programs and supported employment locations.

It was during the pandemic that Mason decided to own her own business.

She holds a bachelor's in rehabilitation, a master's degree in health care administration, has worked as a home administrator and is a certified dementia practitioner with a focus on mental health substance use. Additionally, Mason has a background in being a Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant.

After working in agencies and being in a managerial position, Mason felt a need to make a difference in people's lives through her own agency.

"I was an independent provider and then I went ahead to get an agency," she said. "I had no idea, as far as the business aspect of it, how I would grow the agency. I started going to seminars, doing different trainings and things like that."

Mason started out with one client and then had two for a while. As time went on, she started building her team and was able to grow her clientele to between 25 and 30.

"My overall passion was an adult day center," Mason said, noting that once she got certified, she began to shop around various locations for a brick-and-mortar storefront.

After jumping on the Eastlake location on Vine Street, Mason's vision was to make it a home away from home for people. When it comes to working in this field, Mason says that having patience is key.

"My goal is to open up in different counties so we can service more people," she said. "When you embrace them, that allows them to feel welcome, loved and comfort, and to be happy."

For those interested in Belove It Care's services, they are able to apply online at www.beloveitcare.com.

"Some of the services we provide — nursing delegation, nursing, community respite on the weekends," Mason said. "Our mission is a passion and readiness to serve. The beauty in it all is to see people grow and excited about what's ahead."

Belove It Care is open seven days a week. Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and 16 hours of community respite are offered during the weekend.
