The ComLink ULTRA-Lite is a direct selection and scanning communicator designed for use by individuals with speech or communication disabilities and severe physical or neurological disabilities. This device comes with a SoundPOD wearable augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) device. Users can remove the wireless SoundPOD from its magnetic docking cradle located on the back of the ULTRA-Lite and then then attach it to a lanyard (included) that fits around the user's neck. Users can convert back and forth from the neck-worn in-use configuration and the docked configuration with minimal dexterity requirements. With the SoundPOD worn on the neck lanyard, voice output originates from the upper body and the audio stream is directed toward the person being talked to, providing a more natural communication experience. The SoundPOD's small size and lightweight design allow it to be slipped underneath a shirt for a discrete and hidden communication solution. Designed to be fully accessible, the ULTRA-Lite supports a range of access methods, including touch screen (press, hold time-out), visual and auditory scanning (up to 8 switches), joysticks, sip and puff switches, optical head mouse and voice recognition.
