Delray teen accused of raping young child

Palm Beach Post - 1/14/2020

DELRAY BEACH -- A Delray Beach teen accused of repeatedly raping a young child is facing multiple counts of sexual assault on a minor.

Authorities arrested Kevens Sanon, 18, on Friday, two weeks after the state filed charges against him, court records show.

A judge ordered that he remain jailed without the possibility of posting bond.

Late Nov. 30, Sanon reportedly forced himself on a 5-year-old, who then went to an older sibling crying about what had happened.

That sibling contacted an older sibling, who then alerted authorities, Delray Beach police records indicate.

The child told officers that the sexual abuse started months earlier, when the child was 4. Sanon would force himself on the child, records indicate, and in some cases rape the child. He reportedly threatened to kill the child if the child told anyone what happened.

When a relative of the child contacted Sanon after learning of the allegations, Sanon begged that person not to call the police, according to text messages included in an arrest report.

"I don't want me life ruined."

He said he was working on his GED, and "I just want to get this last chance to do something right."

The person he was messaging responded, "You should (have) thought about that before you did what you did."

It appears he had been living with the child's family, though the nature of his relationship with them is redacted from court records.

A call to a number listed in police records as Sanon's went unanswered Tuesday morning.
