A Lane County man, charged with rape last spring, pleaded guilty to a lesser charge.

Elijah Wilson, 20, entered his guilty plea Friday morning in Lane County Circuit Court, admitted guilt of second-degree rape of a child younger than 12. As part of a plea deal, the original charges filed against him of first-degree rape and first-degree sexual abuse were dismissed.

Wilson is scheduled to be sentenced Feb. 13.

Second-degree rape is a Measure 11 offense that carries a mandatory minimum sentence of six years, three months.

Wilson was arrested in May 2019 on the allegations believed to have occurred between 2013 and 2017. He's been in Lane County Jail since his arrest.
