Register-Guard - 2/12/2020

A Lane County man was sentenced for giving methamphetamine to a child and sexual abusing a person.

Daemon Sims, 28, pleaded guilty Wednesday to one count of second-degree sexual abuse and unlawful delivery of methamphetamine in Lane County Circuit. He was sentenced to two years in prison with credit for time served. Sims has been in the Lane County Jail since Nov. 23.

Duplicate charges were dismissed through a plea deal with Lane County prosecutors.

According to the charging document, Sims was accused of having sexual intercourse with a person, only identified by initials, that the person did not consent to on two dates in September 2019. On those same dates, Sims was also accused of giving methamphetamine to a person younger than 18. It is unknown if it was the same victim. There is no identifying information provided about the recipient of the drugs.
