Man convicted in child molestation

Topeka Capital Journal - 2/17/2020

A Shawnee County District Court jury on Friday convicted a Topeka man of two crimes linked to the molestation of a girl between 2011 and 2015, when she was between the ages of 7 and 11, District Attorney Mike Kagay said.

Dustin Eugene Abrams, 36, was convicted after a five-day trial of two counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child, Kagay said late Saturday in a news release.

Abrams’ sentencing was set for 1:30 p.m.March 26.

Kagay said he faces life sentence on each conviction, and must serve a minimum of 25 years in prison before he becomes eligible for parole on each.

Kagay commended the work of Topeka police for investigating the case as well as the prosecution work of Deputy District Attorney Brett Watson and the trial team that was involved.
