Domestic violence suspect arrested at gun point

Claremore Daily Progress - 8/2/2020

Aug. 2--Deputies removed Neil Burch from his vehicle at gunpoint following an alleged domestic assault and pursuit.

This is according to Rogers County Sheriff's Office, who arrested Burch on Wednesday.

Deputies reached out to Burch on allegations that he had shared private sexual images from an ex girlfriend on the internet. Burch reportedly agreed to talk to deputies.

"Shortly after the conversation, [the alleged victim] called me and stated he had assaulted her and was behind her in his vehicle chasing her down the highway," deputies reported, adding that they advised her to head towards the police department and that law enforcement was on the way.

"We approached the vehicle and removed Burch at gun point due to my observation of his earlier text from him to [the alleged victim] that if she called the cops, he wouldn't be taken alive and wasn't going back to prison," deputies reported. "Neil was removed from the vehicle with a large open knife and his cell phone between his legs in the driver's seat. He was placed on the ground and handcuffed."

After Burch was detained, deputies located marijuana in his picket and a hypodermic needle and methamphetamine in the vehicle.

Deputies said Burch was arrested on allegations of domestic by strangulation, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of controlled dangerous substance and non-consensual dissemination of private sexual images.

Bond was set at $712,000 and he was ordered to wear a GPS device and to have no contact with the alleged victim.

Deputies said Burch has a past criminal history that includes sexual battery, indecent exposure, resisting arrest, escape, possession of stolen property, and threatening or harassing phone calls.

This is an arrest only as charges on this matter have not yet been filed in Rogers County District Court.
