Hull man charged with molesting child in Madison County

Madison County sheriff's investigators have charged a Hull man with child molestation following an investigation that began in June.

Melvin Ronald Johnston, 69, of Maplewood Lane was arrested Friday on one count of child molestation.

Sheriff's Capt. Jimmy Patton said Johnston is accused of molesting a child who was under the age of 10. He said the parents reported the allegations in June and after the investigation, evidence was procured to obtain a warrant for Johnston's arrest.

Johnston remained Monday in the Madison County Jail with bond set at $27,600.
