Police: Mother lied about her child being sexually assaulted
The York Dispatch - 11/9/2020
Nov. 9--A Fairview Township woman was arrested after she falsely accused a man of sexually assaulting her 2-year-old daughter, police allege.
Tiffany Wolford, 25, is charged with endangering the welfare of children, a felony. She's also charged with false reports of child abuse and falsely incriminating another, both misdemeanors.
An investigation was launched in July by Pennsylvania State Police after Wolford reported an adult man had sexually assaulted her 2-year-old girl, according to a news release.
Wolford said she noticed blood in the girl's diaper and took the child to the hospital to have a sexual assault examination completed, police said.
"An interview was conducted with Wolford who continued to report sexual assault allegations against the male," a news release states. "After further investigation, a second interview was conducted with Wolford. During the interview, Wolford admitted to lying about the child's diaper containing blood."
Wolford told police she had lied and said that she did so because the man would not let her speak to the child during his custody time, police allege.
"He failed to take the child to a doctor's appointment, and she did not like the condition in which the child was returned," police said.
