Washington man charged with Albany-area domestic assault

Nov. 14--A man from Washington state is accused of assaulting a woman in Albany during an incident Thursday, according to Stearns County Court records.

Mason Maxson, 25, faces one charge of felony domestic assault.

The victim met with a police officer Thursday morning to report that earlier in the day she argued with Maxson and he ran at her and pushed her multiple times, according to the statement of probable cause. She mentioned other instances of assault including that Maxson strangled her in October.

Maxson was convicted in Washington state of violating a restraining order in 2017 and child molestation in 2012.

He was arrested Thursday evening, according to the Stearns County Jail log. And he remained in jail Saturday morning.

Maxson made a first appearance in court on Friday, according to court records. He has another hearing scheduled for Dec. 3.
