Police: Woman dead, children badly hurt in a Lexington 'domestic violence incident.'

Lexington Herald-Leader - 2/11/2021

Feb. 11—One woman is dead and three people are injured after a "domestic violence incident" which occurred in a Lexington home Thursday morning, according to Lexington police.

Police were dispatched to the home on Furlong View Court shortly after 9 a.m., police spokeswoman Brenna Angel said. The woman involved in the disorder died of a gunshot wound at the scene, and two children and one man were taken to a hospital to be treated "for injuries sustained during a disorder," Angel said. The children had life-threatening injuries, Angel confirmed.

The investigation was ongoing and police could not discuss additional details about how the incident started or how the injuries occurred.

Police did not specify who perpetrated the attack.

No charges had been filed as of about 4 p.m. Thursday, Angel said.

The woman's name was expected to be released later by the Fayette County coroner's office, Angel said. Officials from the coroner's office had responded to the scene, according to Deputy Coroner Ron King.
