Glassport man accused of child sex assault at church, during volunteer work

Pittsburgh Tribune-Review - 2/12/2021

Feb. 12—A Glassport man allegedly sexually assaulted two teenage girls he met through church and volunteer work, abuse that police said took place over several years, according to the criminal complaint filed against him.

Dominic Muscante, 46, is charged with indecent assault, child endangerment, corruption of minors, unlawful contact with minors and furnishing alcohol to minors.

According to the criminal complaint, two teenagers, aged 15 and 19, both said they knew Muscante through the Glassport Assembly of God Church and the Glassport Community Outreach Foodbank, where their families volunteered.

The 15-year-old told police that the alleged assaults happened when she was between the ages of 13 and 15 and included incidents in which he touched her through her clothes. She detailed one assault at a church Christmas party when she was dressed in an elf costume. Another happened when she was in Muscante's car as they drove to pick up food from a warehouse in McKeesport.

Muscante also allegedly told her he would pay her for sex acts once she turned 18, according to the complaint, and offered to pay her to wear a revealing Halloween costume.

She also told police Muscante gave her alcohol on several occasions, including once when she was working at the food bank in Glassport, according to the complaint. In another instance, she was in the car with Muscante when he allegedly stopped and bought her an alcoholic slushie, police wrote.

The other teen, 19, told police Muscante abused her multiple times beginning when she was 6 years old, according to the complaint. She, too, said she met Muscante through her family's volunteer work at the food bank. She said Muscante would touch her through her clothes, incidents that happened at his home and at the food bank.

No one answered the phone at Glassport Community Outreach on Thursday evening.

Muscante was released on nonmonetary bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 23.
