Police arrest suspect accused of trying to rape two women in the Bronx

The New York Daily News - 2/23/2021

Police have arrested the man they say tried to rape two Bronx women, officials said Tuesday.

Cops grabbed Rashaid Todman, 37, in Mott Haven on Monday after someone recognized him from surveillance images of the attack released by police that morning.

Todman is accused of ambushing a 39-year-old woman from behind in front of a store near Morris Ave. and E. 174th St. around 6:50 p.m. on Saturday, officials said.

Startling surveillance video shows him pulling her pants down but she fights him off.

During the struggle, the woman rips off Todman’s hat so his entire face is revealed, the video shows.

As Todman moves away, the woman flings his hat back at him. Todman tries to go back toward the woman but she kicks at his shin before he runs away, the video shows.

Todman is also accused of groping a 29-year-old woman’s privates inside a building three blocks north on Morris Ave. around 6 a.m., cops said. That victim also fought off the would-be rapist.

Police charged Todman with three counts of forcible touching, attempted rape and sex abuse.

A Bronx Criminal Court judge ordered Todman held on $150,000 bail at an arraignment Monday night.
