West Easton man who sexually assaulted young girls at wife’s at-home day care will spend 20 to 40 years in prison

Morning Call - 5/18/2021

The husband of a West Easton at-home day care owner will spend between 20 and 40 years behind bars for the sexual assault of two young girls who attended the day care.

Richard Repsher, 61, of the first block of Main Street in West Easton, pleaded guilty in February to two counts of aggravated indecent sexual assault of a child, both first-degree felony offenses. As part of the agreement for the guilty plea, the county district attorney’s office withdrew several other related charges, including possession of child pornography.

The plea deal came with no agreement on sentencing and Northampton County Judge Paula Roscioli had warned Repsher that she is inclined to impose consecutive sentences in cases with mandatory minimum sentences. In this case, each of the aggravated indecent sexual assault charges had a 10 to 20 year mandatory minimum.

Roscioli on Tuesday sentenced Repsher on the charges consecutively.

Once released from prison, Repsher will have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

The girls Repsher abused were 4 and 6 at the time of the incident in July 2020.

The younger girl complained of pain and described how Repsher abused her while she was sitting on his lap while the caregiver at the day care was out of the room. When asked, the older girl admitted that Repsher had done the same thing to her numerous times.

Wilson said that following an investigation, authorities determined that none of the other children at the day care, which was not licensed, had been victims. She said authorities could not prove that Repsher’s wife had any knowledge of the abuse.
