Wrench used in domestic assault

The Brandon Sun - 5/26/2021

A wrench was reportedly the weapon of choice in a domestic assault reported to police Saturday.

Police were called to a residence on the 400 block of Russell Street at 5 p.m. for a report of an intoxicated man refusing to leave. When police arrived, the caller, who wore a cast on her arm, disclosed the man had assaulted her on May 16, at which time he fractured her arm by smashing it with a large wrench. Police also report the woman claiming the the man had been “using her as a punching bag.”

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment, and the suspect — a 46-year-old man — was already on a release order for assaulting her in the past.

This order also stipulated he was not to be in Brandon, not visit the victim’s residence or communicate with her.

The man was scheduled to appear in court Sunday morning to face related charges.
