Granite City man faces second battery charge

Jan. 11—EDWARDSVILLE — A Granite City man was charged Friday with felony domestic battery just three weeks after a similar charge was filed involving the same victim.

Michael J. LeTempt, 50, of Granite City, was charged Jan. 7 with aggravated domestic battery, a Class 2 felony. The case was presented by the Granite City Police Department.

According to court documents, on Dec. 19 LeTempt allegedly strangled a household or family member, injuring the victim's neck.

Bail was set at $75,000 and several conditions, including requirements that he not go to the residence and stay at least 500 feet from the victim, were imposed.

On Dec. 15 LeTempt was also charged with the same offense for allegedly strangling the same victim. Bail was set at $25,000 in that case, with the same conditions applied.

Other felony charges filed Jan. 7 by the Madison County State's Attorney's Office include:

—Eric J. Genna, 30, of East Alton, was charged with threatening a public official, a Class 3 felony. The case was presented by the East Alton Police Department. On Jan. 7 Genna allegedly told an East Alton police officer he would kill the officer and the officer's family. Bail was set at $50,000.

—William L. Black III 47, of Granite City, was charged with aggravated fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, a Class 4 felony. The case was presented by the Granite City Police Department. On Nov. 26 Black allegedly was driving a 2003 Cadillac when he attempted to flee from a Granite City police officer, reaching speeds in excess of 21 miles above the posted speed limit. Bail was set at $25,000.

—Ronald D. Wright, 32, of Collinsville, was charged with aggravated fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, a Class 4 felony. The case was presented by the Pontoon Beach Police Department. On Jan. 7 Wright allegedly was driving a Mazda CX7 when he tried to flee from a Pontoon Beach police officer, reaching speeds in excess of 21 miles above the posted speed limit. Bail was set at $20,000.
