Wooden Dresser Drawer Handle

DO IT YOURSELF PURPOSE: To make dresser drawers easier to open for senior and individuals with arthritis, use of only one hand or fine motor or grasping disabilities. The existing knobs can be removed and replaced with a wooden handle that extends across the drawer and enables the user to open the drawer with one hand. To maske the handle, drill holes at each end of a horizontal dowel and in a pair of wooden spacers. Put bolts through the holes in the dowel and the specers and secure in the holes for the original knobs. The spacers should be long enough to leave 1.5 to 2 inches of clkearance between the dowel and the drawer front. MATERIALS: One dowel, two spacers, and two bolts for each handle. TOOLS: Drill.
