Lackawanna County child care providers to get nearly $700 thousand in federal funds
Times-Tribune - 5/22/2020
May 22--SCRANTON -- Lackawanna County child care providers affected by the coronavirus will receive a share of $697,000 in federal stimulus money as part of a first disbursement by the state government, Gov. Tom Wolf's office said Wednesday.
Pennsylvania received $106 million in funding to support child care providers through the mammoth Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act.
The initial funding announced Wednesday accounts for $51 million of that sum and will reach 7,000 centers across the state.
The remaining money will be disbursed after a study by the state Department of Human Resources Office of Child Development and Early Learning and Penn State Harrisburg's Institute of State and Regional Affairs that will assess the economic impact the pandemic has had on providers.
