Texas mom says teen son was forced to drink urine, called racial and homophobic slurs in bullying incidents

The New York Daily News - 3/5/2021

A Texas mother has reached out to police with serious accusations against a group of students at a middle school in Plano, Texas.

Summer Alicia says that her Black teenage son has been viciously bullied by fellow students at Haggard Middle School.

According to Alicia, SeMarion has been targeted some of his football teammates, who have physically attacked him, used racial and homophobic slurs to call him, and even forced him to drink urine from a cup.

On Wednesday she posted a lengthy message on Facebook detailing several instances of the alleged abuse. She also shared a video that shows a boy sitting on the floor being forced to drink a yellow liquid, as people can be heard laughing in the background.

“Imagine your classmates and football team members turning on you and targeting you,” she writes in the emotional post, as she gives a list of chilling examples of physical and psychological violence against the teen.

“Imagine a group of those same football team members attacking you in the locker-room with a belt,” she continued. “Imagine someone telling you that the next time ‘maybe you will succeed with the suicide attempt.’”

“Imagine being called a n—r, a white washed blackie and a fa—t daily ... Imagine being forced to drink the urine of not only a boy who thought was your friend, but his friends,” and then imagine seeing that video “being sent to multiple people in your school.”

“My son doesn’t have to imagine these things,” Alicia writes. “They are all his reality.”

A GoFundMe page has been set up on the family’s behalf, as the boy is now “in need of therapy and is planning to change to a private school.”

According to CBSN Dallas-FT. Worth, the city’s police department, as well as officials with the Plano Independent School District are now investigating the allegations.

“The Plano ISD administration is aware of recent bullying allegations, and is working with the campus and local law enforcement to actively investigate the matter. Our district does not tolerate or condone bullying or harassing behavior, and is taking prompt and remedial action to address concerns,” the district said in a statement.

On Friday, Plano police tweeted that the department is “currently investigating a report related to a Plano ISD student.”

The case has been assigned to a juvenile detective, according to police.
