MotorWorld Lexus supports programs for autistic children and families

Times Leader - 6/5/2023

Jun. 5—LEHMAN TWP. — Allied Services is preparing for its annual charity golf tournament.

The Autism Golf Classic is scheduled for Monday, June 19, at Huntsville Golf Club in Lehman Township.

As in years past, the tournament will raise funds for pediatric programs at Allied Services.

This year's tournament, presented by MotorWorld MileOne Autogroup and MotorWorld Lexus, marks the 30th anniversary of the event. Established in 1993, the Autism Golf Classic, along with the Lexus Champions for Charity Pebble Beach raffle, has raised more than $2 million for pediatric services at Allied Services.

"The community support for this Event over the past decade that we have partnered with Allied Services has been amazing," said Rick Osick, Division President, MotorWorld MileOne Autogroup.

Sustaining vital autism services in NEPA

Since 2000, the focus of the Autism Golf Classic has been to support autism services locally. That theme will continue in 2023 with funds earmarked for pediatric autism services at the non-profit in Wilkes-Barre and Scranton.

"We recognize the significant impact that early intervention and access to specialized therapy can have for autistic children and their families," commented Jim Brogna, Vice President of Strategic Partnership Development at Allied Services. "We're grateful for the generosity of our sponsors, golfers, and supporters, and the important role it plays in helping to sustain these services for our patients and the community."

In 2022, Allied Services provided more than 33,000 pediatric therapy visits for over 600 children. This includes children with challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech, and nonverbal communication needs, common to autism spectrum disorder.

New opportunities to support autism services

In celebration of the 30th anniversary, the Annual Golf Classic will feature a new online auction open to the general public. The auction will allow supporters to bid on luxury gifts, entertainment experiences, gift cards, and one-of-a-kind items donated by local businesses.

New items are added daily, and bidding closes on June 19. Bidding takes place 100% online. To donate, view or bid on items, visit — alliedservices.org/auction
