Bill would strengthen stay-home options for working parents

Jacksonville Journal-Courier - 7/20/2021

Jul. 19—Congressman Darin LaHood has introduced legislation intended to provide flexibility to working parents with newborn children and also to expand access to paid leave for low-income workers.

The bill would amend the Child Care Entitlement to States to give eligible low-income parents the option of receiving a child care payment directly instead of getting child or infant care assistance. That would allow more options for parents to stay home with their newborns.

"Ensuring that working parents have the ability to choose how they care for their children, particularly a newborn, is vital to the long-term stability of a family and the success of a child," LaHood said.
